Our program focuses on the following 12 prestigious scholarships. Awards fall into many categories and we encourage you to read about the different opportunities below. Unlike financial aid, these awards are merit-based and highly competitive. Click on the name of each scholarship for details.

Scholarships for Undergraduates

Harry S. Truman:

One year funding for students pursuing graduate degrees in public service fields. College juniors who are U.S. citizens with a record of community service and a commitment to a career in public service are eligible. Public service includes government, uniformed services, public interest organizations, non-governmental research or educational organizations, public and private schools and other public service-oriented non-profit organizations.

Campus Deadline: 15 November 2012

Barry M. Goldwater:

One or two year awards to students who demonstrate strong evidence of contributing to the technological advances of the United States. Current junior or exceptional sophomore students who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or resident aliens are eligible. Applicants should be committed to a PhD in the research fields of mathematics, sciences or engineering.

National Security Education Program Boren Undergraduate Scholarships:

Open to freshmen through seniors for study abroad in a non-western country. U.S. citizens only.

Campus Deadline: 16 January 2013

Beinecke Brothers Memorial:

Merit and need-based award to students seeking to gain a graduate degree in the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences. Current juniors who are U.S. citizens are eligible.

Scholarships for Graduating Seniors, Graduate Students, and Recent Alumni
(applications generally are due a year in advance of the experience)

Gates Cambridge:

One to four years of study leading to a degree at Cambridge University, England. Seniors, graduate/professional students, and graduates are eligible to apply. U.S. and non-U.S. citizens are eligible. All applicants must apply directly to Cambridge as a graduate student and fill out the supplemental portion of the application to the Cambridge Trusts to be considered for the fellowship.

George J. Mitchell:

One year of postgraduate study in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. Must be under the age of 30 and a U.S. citizen.

Marshall:

One to three years of study leading to a degree at any British university. Seniors, graduate/professional students, and graduates are eligible to apply within two years of their undergraduate graduation. Must be a U.S. citizen with an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.7.

Rhodes:

One to three years of study leading to a degree at Oxford University, England. Seniors, graduate/professional students, and graduates are eligible to apply. Must be under the age of 24 and a U.S. citizen or citizen of Australia, Bermuda, Canada, Commonwealth Caribbean, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Zambia, or Zimbabwe. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible to apply from their home country on the basis of degrees from U.S. universities and have earlier deadlines.

Fulbright:

One year of study or research in any country where there is a Fulbright Commission. Some shorter term and English teaching programs available. Seniors, graduate/professional students, and graduates are eligible to apply. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Campus Deadline: 4 September 2012

Luce Scholars Program:

One year internship in East or Southeast Asia for those with little significant academic or personal experience with Asia. Young professionals, seniors, and graduate/professional students are eligible to apply. Must be a U.S. citizen under the age of 30.

Campus Deadline: 26 September 2012

Churchill:

One year of graduate study leading to a degree (generally a Master's) in engineering, mathematics, and/or the sciences at Cambridge University, England. Seniors and graduate students are eligible to apply. Must complete GRE general test by November. Must be under the age of 26 and a U.S. citizen.

Campus Deadline: 11 October 2012 (Your application to Cambridge University must be submitted before this date.)

National Security Education Program Graduate David L. Boren Fellowships:

U.S. citizens enrolled in or applying to a graduate degree program. May include domestic language and cultural study with overseas study or all overseas study in a non-western country. Funding for 1 to 6 academic semesters.
