University of Illinois

The Office of Prestigious Scholarships

We assist you through the prestigious fellowship application process in your quest for greater knowledge, personal growth, and professional development.

*As an additional benefit, you just might win a scholarship...

Nationally competitive scholarships are available for graduates and undergraduates, and the competition is steep. Our office administers many of these prestigious scholarships for University of Illinois students and alumni. Throughout the application process, we provide advice and feedback for applicants.

Notice the web pages on the left-hand margin offering advice on the application process.  These resources will assist applicants and their mentors in navigating through the prestigious scholarships process. In addition, our office publishes a scholarships newsletter two times per year. Take a look!

Despite the highly competitive nature of these programs, University of Illinois applicants have competed successfully over the years. Last year alone, for example, a University of Illinois student won a Gates Cambridge Scholarship to study in the United Kingdom, another received a Luce Scholars Award to fully fund a year-long internship experience in Asia, and six Illinois students were offered Fulbright grants to study, conduct research, or teach English in countries in Africa, Asia, and Western and Eastern Europe. In addition, an Illinois junior was among 21 nationwide to receive a Beinecke Scholarship, two juniors received coveted Goldwater Scholarships for their undergraduate research in the sciences, and three students were offered nearly full funding their studies abroad through Boren Scholarships and Fellowships.

We can help you unlock your potential, learn about yourself, and become more competitive for scholarships. Interested persons -- from freshmen, to Ph.D. candidates, to recent alumni -- are encouraged to make an appointment to discuss these opportunities.

David Schug and Laura Hastings serve as Co-Directors of the office.
